Arden Hills-trained Collin Altamirano plays role in University of Virginia winning NCAA championship

Collin Altamirano, a rising national tennis champion on scholarship at the University of Virginia (UVa) who continues to train at JMG Tennis Academy at Arden Hills in the off season, played a key role in the men’s tennis team winning the NCAA Championship title on May 19, 2015.  Ranked third going into the tournament, the Cavaliers defeated top-seeded Oklahoma in a 4-1 victory in Waco, Texas.  In fact, Virginia defeated Oklahoma in all matches during the highly competitive tournament. And, after playing with heart, intensity and talent, Altamirano made the all-tournament team in singles and the duo of Altamirano and partner J.C. Aragone earned all-tourney recognition in doubles.

Free flu vaccinations for the community with Sacramento Kings star player Rudy Gay

Free flu vaccinations for the community with Sacramento Kings star player Rudy Gay

With influenza season still upon us, it’s not too late to protect yourself from catching the flu. So take a shot with the Kings.

Kaiser Permanente is teaming up with the Sacramento Kings to offer the best defense against the flu – vaccination – at a special event Tuesday, February 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. featuring small forward Rudy Gay, Slamson and the Sacramento Kings dancers. Kaiser Permanente doctors are the team physicians of the Sacramento Kings.

Free flu shots will be available to the community at Kaiser Permanente Point West Medical Offices, 1650 Response Road, Sacramento, 95815 (across Exposition Boulevard from Cal Expo). Gay will sign autographs for the first 150 fans from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Parking will be on-site and free.

Anyone in need of a flu shot is encouraged to attend the event, which is open to nonmembers and members of Kaiser Permanente.
