River Cats rev up Taylor School

River Cats rev up Taylor School

“I Can! I Will! Succeed!” That was the message that students at Taylor Street Elementary School heard from Tony Asaro, Community Relations Spokesperson for the Sacramento Rivercats on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday’s event celebrated the kick-off of state testing of 2nd-6th grade students at Taylor Street Elementary. The Sacramento Rivercats sponsor school programs centered on the AAA theme of “Attitude, Attendance and Academics” and that theme was emphasized to students as they were encouraged to believe in themselves and do their best not only on the test but in all aspects of their lives.

Over the next two weeks students will be testing in English-Language Arts, Math and Science.

Come enjoy a great day of golf in the beauty of the Lincoln Hills Club, only 35 minutes away from downtown Sacramento.

We will be having several Hole-in-One prizes, a "Silent Auction", and Raffle Prizes. Raffle Prize tickets will be available at check-in and on the course. We also appreciate any donations of items for the raffles and “Silent Auctions”.

It is our goal this year to double our proceeds from the past years in order to meet the demands that we are anticipating next year due to further cuts in educational funding from the State.

Please call John at 916-922-6386 and join in the fun.

The B Street Theatre School Tour production of Fantasy Festival XXVI hits the road this spring.  This is the 26th year that elementary and middle schools students throughout northern California have submitted original plays to B Street’s annual playwriting contest for young people.  Mutts in a Rutt by Kimberly Bean of Taylor Street Elementary School is one of only 5 plays selected from over 150 entries to be acted out by the professional actors of B Street Theatre.

Kimberly Bean is a 6th grade student enrolled in the Gifted and Talented Program at Taylor Street Elementary School and wrote the play as part of a class project.  Her inspiration for the play was inspired by a pet poodle named “Mimi” who is a rescue pet.

Mutts in a Rutt will be performed in over 108 schools in northern California beginning on March 19 and culminating on June 8, 2012 with a performance at Taylor Street Elementary School.
