SACRAMENTO – A man killed after making a U-turn on Highway 99 near Natomas Monday was identified Tuesday.

Dhari Chattar Singh was traveling northbound on Hwy. 99 past Elverta Rd. around 5:30 a.m. Monday when he inexplicably made a U-turn across the center median and entered the fast lane of the southbound direction at about 5 mph, according to CHP Officer Chad Hertzell.

An oncoming car managed to avoid Signh's Toyota but a Ford F-250 was unable to do so and plowed into the rear of the car at highway speed, Hertzell said.

The two vehicles veered off the highway where they came to a rest.

Singh was killed instantly, according to Hertzell.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
