Body found in No. Sacramento house fire; person of interest sought | News
SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento police were investigating the discovery of a body found in a house fire Friday morning.
The fire, reported just before 10 a.m., was at a home on the 3700 block of Norwood Avenue in North Sacramento.
Police Sgt. Andrew Norwood said there was trauma to the body. It wasn't clear if the death was caused by the trauma or the fire. The victim was believed to be a man in his 30s.
The possible murder has neighbors shaken up.
"It's kind of crazy, like it's so close to my house, and I have family," said Leon Richard, who lives down the street. ""What happened could be my family next."
"It surprises me because everyone around here are like friends, you know, the neighbors are all friends, everybody mostly knows each other," added Marlene Hill, who also lives nearby.
Police were looking for an older model white Honda Civic without hubcaps observed near Norwood and Interstate 80 at the time of the fire. Its driver, described as an Hispanic man in his 20s, may be connected to the house fire, according to Pettit.
The 3700 block of Norwood was expected to be closed well into Friday night for the continuing investigation.
