News10 and South Natomas Library unite to 'Make A Difference'

NATOMAS, CA - On Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, News10 will be partnering with South Natomas Library to host a book drive and complete a mini-makeover of the library's Kids Space.

The event is part of News10's contribution to "Make A Difference Day 2012", as well as an ongoing commitment to learning and enrichment in local neighborhoods.

During the project, News10 volunteers will be assisting with painting, carpentry, cleaning, and decoration to create a bright open space filled with toys, books and tools that encourage young children and their parents to talk, sing, read, write and play together - five key activities that encourage kids to develop a life-long love of reading and learning.

Specific Make a Difference Day projects at the library will feature the installation of interactive, wall-mounted learning toys, including three iPads with the "early learning app of the day," and the creation of a bright fresh space where young children can experience story times.

Citizens are encouraged to drop off their new or gently used books at the South Natomas Library at 2901 Truxel Road, Sacramento, CA 95833 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Books in English, as well as foreign languages are greatly appreciated.
